Anti-whaling protester arrested on home soil
Prime Minister Julia Gillard has labelled the trio’s actions “irresponsible” and said it had cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It was unlikely the men would contribute to the cost, she added.
“I do not understand them to be people who probably have that kind of money at their disposal, so unfortunately, it is the government, the Australian taxpayer, who to date, has had to bear these costs, which is why, among other reasons, why I think (their) conduct was irresponsible,” Ms Gillard said.
